61 years ago freedom to millions of Indians meant Independence from the British Raj. Patriotism, Independence are not merely words. They mean something deeper to all of us at Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Mandir. Freedom means being sensible, understanding and taking the responsibility that comes with it. It means being true to ourselves and our country.

The 15th of August was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm in the SSSVM campus in spite of the inclement weather, The short and lwely  programme included Prayers, Falg Hoisting, Patriotic songs, March Past and a dance on Rehman’s “Vande Mataram”. Prizes were also given away for certain competitions. The chief guest for the occasion was Sri Sharad Vakil – Senior most lawyer in the bar with an age nearing to 80. The other guest were Sri Kanubhai Patel, Sri Rohit Choksi, Sri Manibhai Patel.

The day ended with Swami’s Aarti. It was one of the most memorable days for the school. Sri Sharad Vakil addressed the students and complimented them for the exclusive programme.
